There are people drawn to rural, suburban, or the kind of urban living that depends almost entirely on personally owned automobiles. And where you find that, there’s something else you see a lot of: motorhomes and campers. Vehicles that let you take your living on the road. Nothing wrong with that; that’s one kind of freedom. Then there are those for whom freedom is ditching the automobile in favor of bustling pedestrian life, mass transit, street vendors, sidewalk musicians, and so on. I guess I’m in that crowd. Or at least, when I’m not, I want to be. Which type of freedom appeals to you?
