Know about TED – the community of new ideas? If your idea is good enough, why not make your own “TED” videos and share them? I call mine FRED. [TED] stands for Technology, Entertainment, and Design. FRED, which is my pet version, stands for:
Free agency, Rules (of work), Entrepreneurship, and Daniel’s own peculiar ideas. Not as catchy as TED, perhaps, but still fun. Before thinking it childish (tho children often have excellent ideas), there’s a general principle that giving names to your goals, definition to your intentions, and branding, even informally, what you’re currently doing, enhances motivation, clarity, and creativity and serves to sustain success. So that fort you built and named as a kid, or that cartoon character you drew on a notebook that vicariously crosses hurdles you face – that was the beginning of being your own best success coach – a phenomenon that gets squashed out of kids by ‘old’ folks who have made a life out of settling and self-comfort. And by “old”, we mean someone who isn’t learning, growing, being inspired, and creating anymore – not beating them up, just identifying the source of the “grownups don’t do that” canard. FRED – it’s just something I’m doing – my version of the heroes at TED. Where’s your TED?
